Hello. This a blog about my week building up to the national comp and then what happened at the comp! ๐
Mon 29 October 2018, 4-8pm
Ouch. I had a little crash on beam tonight. ๐ I cried. I grazed my leg. I really hope itโs just getting it out my body before the comp.
Tues. School started back today. My leg hurts. ๐
4-8.30pm. I had to do the fast runs around the gym for 10mins. I pushed myself so hard that I felt sick at the end. Then I had to do 100 jumps over the beam. ๐ฐ
Hmm, I landed off the bars slightly funny tonight and jarred my back a bit. Itโs a bit sore, so I got Mum to rub in some cream before I went to bed.
Butโฆ I did 8 vaults tonight and one of the ones that I showed, I stuck! Nailed it! ๐ ย ๐
I put more sudacream of my hands and socks on hands before bed as normal. I want them to be perfect.
Weds 31 Oct, 4-8pm. My back was sore this morning. It was still a bit stiff and sore after school. I had some ibuprofen and told Kelly.
I did 3 clean bars routines in a row. Everything else was good today too. โบ ๐ช ๐ค
We played some Halloween games in the gym and got out of doing conditioning! Yay!
More cream and massage before bed. Iโm feeling very good about the competition. Just a run through of my routines on Friday then the long drive to Guildford, I think it is about 4 hours, and then I compete on Saturday.
Thurs day off.
I watched the World Championships All Around (AA) women final. Amazing. My absolute idol, Simone Biles is a human after all! She had a few slip ups but she still became champion! It is getting me ready for my comp. Anything is possible. ๐ GB Ellie and Kelly were amazing.
‘You can always be magical.’
Fri. I only needed to go into the gym to run through my routines 1-3pm, and then get my hair done by Kelly.
Just before I was going to do my vault we quickly watched Simone Biles do her World Championship apparatus final for vault! She was awesome.
Dad, Mum, Jack, Bella and I drove to our hotel near Guildford. It was a 4 hour drive. I feel happy and confident.
Kelly sent Mum a ๐ธ it shows all the CLEAN routines I have done in the gym over the last two weeks ( 9 training sessions) . Mum and Dad think itโs completely amazing! Iโve done a lot!!!

Level 2 National Finals Voluntary in age Comp at Guildford Spectrum
We arrived at 12.30pm and met Kelly there. Our registration was at 1.45pm, then our general warm up was at 2.35pm. Apparatus warm ups were 15 mins on each piece starting at 2.45pm. I wore my yellow white and pink leo. Kelly said I could choose to wear it if I wanted to. Yes! My family said it looked amazing! Here is a picture of me wearing it a few weeks ago.
The march in and comp started at 4pm. My number was 49.
Vault. My warm ups weren’t quite right. I realised that I was starting my run up at the wrong point!
I competed two yerchenko pike turn vaults. My big vaults. The springboard wasn’t as springy as ours at Falcons so I had to work even harder. I can do even better ones in our gym ๐ But I was happy with my vaulting ๐ ๐
Bars. I did a good bars routines! I got some handstands and my landing was better than last comp.
Beam. I did my flic tick but lost my balance so came off the beam. One whole Mark was deducted for this fall. My beam routine was really good, but for some reason my leap connection didnโt get the score for being connected? I thought I did it.ย
Floor
I am really happy with my floor. My landings were better and my leaps were brilliant. I tried to perform the routine. โบ Iโm pleased with all of my tumbles, especially my double twist. ๐ Unfortunately I was told that the judges couldn’t score one of my elements, so my score was lower than Kelly and I thought it would be. Mum and Dad thought it was the best floor routine theyโve seen me do, and very beautiful.
Rest. My last rotation was on rest. It was nice to finish as one of the first groups.
Scores – D for difficulty E for execution, added together to give my score.
Vault 1. D 3.500 E 8.550 Score 12.050
Vault 2. D 3.500 E 8.550 Pen 0.100 Score 11.950

All Around (AA) I placed 13th in GREAT BRITAIN. I am proud of myself. Kelly is a great coach. Thank you Kelly. A couple of scores might have been higher, but Iโm really pleased. ย I came 10th on bars. โบ
Combining my two national final scores together (Compulsory Level 2 in May and this Level 2 Age Group Comp in Nov) I came 18th combined in GREAT BRITAIN for 2018. Yay, I made it into the top 20. Itโs been a real challenge to comeback strong since my accident and I believe that I have done that.
‘If you believe in yourself then you can achieve anything. ‘
I have a day off to travel home tomorrow but I will be back in the gym on Monday! I donโt have much time for upgrades, I will be back doing more routines! My Level 1 Compulsory at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall is on 2 February, then itโs the Florida trip and Comp and hopefully English Championships and British Championships, if I qualify, in March. The next few months are going to be full on training. I think it will be crazy times for me, and not much time off over Christmas!!! I just hope it is worth it. I think it will be. I think all the training is very important and I am determined to pass my Compulsory 1 in Feb. ๐ช
Thanks for reading this and helping me along the way.
